We wish we had a Week 8 wrap for you or some Week 9 picks as usual by now, but the ridiculous schedule necessitated by last week's power outages force us to forge on quickly. We'll have Week 9 picks up later on Tuesday. Congratulations to Ansonia and Holy Cross for winning their divisions in Week 8.

Quickly, here are the top stars from the winners of Week 8: Ansonia's Arkeel Newsome (19 rush, 204 yds, 5 TD; 27-yd pass TD), Derby's Ray Kreiger (13-19, 324 yds, 4 TD; 10 rush, 122 yds, 3 TD) and Dillon McMahon (7 rec, 212 yds, 3 TD), Wilby's Jacob Thomas (20 rush, 151 yds; 2 TD pass; special teams TD) and Jay'Len Mahan (15 rush, 150 yds, 2 TD), Sacred Heart's Jolly Black (22 rush, 256 yds, 2 TD), Naugatuck's Jake Yourison (10 rush, 92 yds, 2 TD; 5-13, 88 yds, TD), Torrington's Joan Toribeo (46 rush, 305 yds, 4 TD), Holy Cross' Isaiah Wright (7 rec, 115 yds; 2 INT; INT-return TD).

Week 9 has huge implications for the state playoff picture. Ansonia and Holy Cross are both basically in the playoffs, but Wolcott, Woodland, Seymour, and Torrington are all squarely on the bubble. They will all likely need wins in Week 9 to stay alive.
